India National Cricket Team are yet to announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to be played from the 19th of February, and the deadline to announce the squad for the tournament has already been reached, as ICC set the 12th of February as the last date to name the provisional team.

There were reports earlier in the media stating that BCCI had requested ICC for an extension as the team just returned from Australia, having played the five-match Test series. However, the real reason behind the India squad delay for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been revealed.

The fitness of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav main reason behind the delay in the Indian squad announcement for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

As per the reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that BCCI is still unclear over the fitness of Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Governing body is still waiting for the fitness reports of the two key players, which is why they asked for an extension in the deadline for the squad announcement of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury during the last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and it was recently revealed by the Indian Express that the fast bowler has back swelling. It was learned that the pacer might miss the league stage of the ICC Champions Trophy and play the knockouts.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav faced a groin injury just at the start of the New Zealand Test series. He underwent surgery in Germany and has been putting hard yards at the NCA, making sure that he returns in time and plays the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Recent reports claimed that Kuldeep Yadav is very near to reaching full fitness. The wrist spinner is likely to be fit by the end of this month and might even play in the ODI series against the England National Cricket Team, which will begin on February 6.
