Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has made a bold statement about the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 amidst the uncertainty over India’s participation if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refuses the allegedly proposed hybrid model for the tournament.
Butt has confidently predicted that the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 will be a far more successful event than the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies. He pointed out that the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA faced several challenges, from subpar pitches to logistical nightmares.

Stadiums were located far from hotels, making travel difficult for teams and fans alike. Then, the lack of local awareness about the game and the T20 World Cup 2024 further dulled the atmosphere in the tournament, as only the overseas visitors enjoyed the action. Notably, India won the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados last month by thrashing South Africa in the final.
In stark contrast, Butt predicted the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in the cricket-loving nation Pakistan will be vibrant and grand. The Pakistani batter further mentioned that the fervent passion for cricket in Asian countries like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh is unparalleled.
He said that the players get immense love and respect in these countries, and then the logistical arrangements are also amazing. Butt said that the convenience and security will be like the presidential standards for the teams in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, which will reduce their travel time and give a lifetime experience.
He is confident that love and passion for cricket in the subcontinent will transform the Champions Trophy 2024 into a festival of cricket, celebrated by millions, saying this event will deliver an unforgettable experience for both fans and players that they never felt in the USA.
Champions Trophy 2025 will be a grand success in Pakistan than T20 World Cup 2024: Salman Butt
Salman Butt said on his YouTube Channel: “There's no comparison of this event to the United States of America or any other such country. This will surely be a more successful event than the T20 World Cup. The pitches weren't up to the mark over there, the stadiums were too far, and the hotels were elsewhere. No locals knew what was happening in their cities, just the overseas people staying there knew about cricket.”
Butt added, “When such a trophy comes to this part of the world, be it in India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh, the love and respect that the players will receive will be different. Also, the teams won't have to travel for hours. Everything will be sealed and it will take just six minutes for the team to reach the stadium. This is presidential security; such a feeling can never be there in the USA.”
Notably, Pakistan will be hosting its first big tournament since the 2008 Asia Cup, so the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is trying hard to make this event memorable. Still, India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 is a huge headache for them.
