Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about the Indian combination for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He said that the batting order of the team looks set, and they won't be needing the services of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the tournament.
India are preparing well for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They are currently locking horns with the England National Cricket Team in the three-match ODI series and have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 after two impressive outings.
India batting has looked stable in the ongoing England series
The major reason behind the impressive performances of the India National Cricket Team have been their batting. The likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and others have chipped in and have played a valiant role for the team.
India played Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first game, and it seemed that Shubman Gill would be batting in the middle order. However, in the second game, Shubman was back at the top and played another magnificent inning for the team, helping the team win by 4 wickets.
You might not require Yashasvi Jaiswal - Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra talked about the batting order for India, saying that it looked settled. He said that the top five looks settled, claiming that the team might not require Yashasvi Jaiswal. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said:
"The batting order is looking set. Rohit has started scoring runs. Shubman Gill is our vice-captain, and he is in good form. Virat Kohli will eventually return to form. Even if he doesn’t, god forbid, India is not going to drop him. Shreyas Iyer is at No. 4. At No. 5, whether it’s KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, or Axar Patel, the slot is settled. One of the two—Rahul and Pant—will have to be left out. And then you have an extra battery,"
"You might not require Yashasvi Jaiswal. That’s a possibility. You wanted to maintain a left-right, left-right combination in the batting order. Now, you won’t be able to do it. You have played your hand, and that has backfired."
You can’t play Yashasvi, So, if you can’t play him, why take him to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025? - Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra added that if Yashasvi Jaiswal isn't playing a part in the ICC Champions Trophy, then the team shouldn't take him along. He strongly believes that Mohammed Siraj will be added to the squad, pointing out that Jaiswal might have to make way. He elaborated:
"You can’t play Yashasvi. So, if you can’t play him, why take him to the Champions Trophy? I think Mohammed Siraj’s chances of playing are higher than Yashasvi Jaiswal’s. I see a strong chance for Mohammed Siraj to be included, especially if you feel the need for experience in the bowling attack against Pakistan. You might want to go in with three fast bowlers—Siraj could come in. Then, Yashasvi might have to make way." said Aakash Chopra.
