ICC honours Simon Harmer for destroying India in Test series; Shafali Verma also rewarded

The veteran South Africa National Cricket Team spinner Simon Harmer has been rewarded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his heroics with the ball in the Test series against the India National Cricket Team.

Simon Harmer has been handed the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for November 2025, and he beat Taijul Islam and Mohammad Nawaz to receive it.

South African Simon Harmer, along with Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam and Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz, was nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November 2025.

He bagged the award on the back of his stunning performances against India that helped South Africa register a 2-0 clean sweep over the hosts. Simon Harmer picked up 17 wickets in two matches, and he also bagged the Player of the Match award.

On the women's side of things, India star Shafali Verma bagged the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for November 2025 after her heroics in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup final.

She was added to the squad very late after India opener Pratika Rawal suffered a freak injury. Shafali made the most of the opportunities she got and delivered an all-timer performance in the final.

She slammed 87 off 78 balls in the World Cup final against the Proteas Women and then bagged massive wickets of Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp with the ball.

In an official statement issued by ICC, the veteran spinner said that he is privileged to win the award and added that representing South Africa is a dream come true moment for him.

“It’s a privilege to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November." said Harmer. "Playing for my country is a dream come true and anything else that comes from it as a result is a bonus.

“I share this award with my teammates, coaches and support staff and dedicate it to my family who allow me to go out and live my dream, often having to leave them at home to do so.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of the Proteas team and I hope to enjoy many more successful seasons with this remarkable group of people.”

The young opener Shafali Verma was also delighted after winning the ICC award, and she said that she was grateful to be able to contribute to India's World Cup win.

Shafali also dedicated her Women’s Player of the Month award to her teammates, coaches, family, and everyone who supported her.

“My first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup experience didn’t go as I expected but it ended far better than I could have ever wished or imagined." said Verma.

“I’m grateful that I could contribute to the team’s success in the Final and that I was able to be a part of making history in winning the World Cup for the first time and in front of a home crowd.

“I’m truly honoured to be named the Women’s Player of the Month for November. I dedicate this award to my teammates, coaches, family and everyone who has supported my journey until now. We win and lose as a team, the same goes for this award.”
