ICC Reveals UAE And Ireland's Schedule For ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022

On Monday, March 21, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ireland’s schedule for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia.

The marquee ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 tournament will be played in Australia for the first time in 2022 and the tournament is all set to begin from October 16 to November 13.

Notably, the UAE and Ireland qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 after registering a win over Nepal and Oman respectively in the semi-finals of the eight-team qualifier.

UAE had won the final against Ireland to enter the Group A of the First Round and they have been placed along with Sri Lanka and Namibia and will be joined by the runner-up in Qualifier B.

Also, Ireland, after the loss in the final, have joined the West Indies and Scotland in Group B of the First Round, and the winner of Qualifier B will also be part of this group.

Andrew Balbirnie, the captain of the Ireland team, said that the Ireland players are delighted to have qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. He asserted:

“We are really happy to have qualified and are looking forward to going to Australia. A really nice place to play cricket, a few of us have been before. We have a lot to do before that so we are excited for that challenge and for the big summer ahead.”

Meanwhile, UAE skipper Ahmed Raza said that they were disappointed not to be a part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, which was held in UAE. He said:

“This side is special. We have gelled over the past 6 months and it was really hurtful when the World Cup was happening back home and we weren’t a part of it. We spoke about not letting such an opportunity pass us by. The players showed a lot of character throughout the tournament. Different players put their hands up when the chips were down.”
