New Zealand Cricket Team registered a thumping victory against Australia in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Tim Southee was the wrecker in chief where he took 3 wickets and gave away 6 runs in 2.1 overs.

Australia on the other hand would be utterly disappointed as the defending champions had a disastrous start to their campaign. Losing the match by 89 runs is unacceptable in T20I Cricket. It would be interesting to see how the team makes a comeback in the tournament.

Tim Southee Surpasses Shakib Al Hasan

The right-arm speedster went past Shakib Al Hasan in T20Is. By taking 3 wickets in the Australia match, he has 125 wickets to his name in 101 matches. The experienced pacer would be delighted to achieve the feat. On the other hand, Shakib has 122 wickets to his name from 104 matches. It looks like this tussle would continue in this T20 World Cup 2022.

New Zealand on a Roll

The Black Caps wouldn’t have asked for a better start to the tournament. The left-handed batter Devon Conway was in sublime touch when he was toying with the Aussie bowlers.  The way he rotated the strike frustrated the bowlers a lot.

Skipper Kane Williamson would be happy as they took revenge for their 2021 T20 World Cup final loss. The Black Caps should not get complacent as they are placed in a precarious group as a couple of losses can end their journey. It would be interesting to see whether New Zealand continues to bench Martin Guptill.
