ICC head curator Andy Atkinson visited the iconic M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday (August 25th) ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023.
M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, which is also known as Chepauk Stadium, is going to host some crucial matches in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 including India’s first match of the tournament.
During the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in May, no matches took place in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which gave the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) ample time to work on the pitch to host the ICC World Cup 2023. New LED flood lights have also been installed in the stadium replacing the old ones.

R.I. Palani added that Andy Atkinson was happy to see the condition of the crease and the other facilities of the MA Chidambaram Stadium and was surprised to see that the Chepauk Stadium is already equipped with such facilities.
“It is a routine inspection carried out before a big tournament. He was delighted with all the facilities and the work we have done. We have everything in place to host the games, and he was even pleasantly surprised that we have things in place already.” R.I. Palani said.
