Aakash Chopra, the former opener, opened up on the date change for India vs Pakistan match in the ICC World Cup 2023 and said ‘what difference does it make’.

India will host the upcoming ICC World Cup and the high-voltage match between the two arch-rivals will be held on October 14th at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra talked about the ICC World Cup 2023 new date for India vs Pakistan clash.

“The World Cup’s final schedule has now come. The India vs Pakistan match that was scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on October 15 will now be played on the 14th. What difference does it make anyway whether you play on the 15th or the 14?” Chopra said.

The former India player believes that it will not affect the broadcasters as much as it creates problems for the cricket fans who have already booked their hotel rooms.

“It shouldn’t make too much difference to the broadcaster as the 14th is a Saturday. However, people who booked their hotel rooms and hospital beds have got stuck. They were not getting places to stay in any case and now the match is happening on the 14th. So there is a story there,” Chopra added.

It won’t work out with just one change: Aakash Chopra on IND vs PAK’s new date in ICC World Cup 2023

The 45-year-old highlighted how Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka has been changed so that India’s arch-rivals can get four days to rest before the mega encounter.

“It won’t work out with just one change. It was going to have a cascading effect. There was supposed to be a Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match in Hyderabad on October 12. That will now be played on the 10th so that Pakistan also gets four days to recuperate,” Aakash Chopra further added.

Rohit Sharma-led India will start their upcoming World Cup journey on October 8th against Australia. While Babar Azam’s Pakistan will begin their ICC World Cup 2023 voyage against the Netherlands on October 6th.
