Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has said that he has a lot of mutual respect for his former teammate and legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni and he will be the first one standing next to Dhoni whenever the former India captain is in need.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, sports journalist Jatin Sapru asked Gautam Gambhir why people think he does not like MS Dhoni.

Gautam Gambhir replied by labelling the claims of him not liking Dhoni as “crap”. He added that he has a lot of mutual respect for MS Dhoni for what he has done for Indian cricket and it will always remain. He elaborated:
“It’s crap, see I have soo much mutual respect for him and it will always be and I have said it on air I can say it on your channel I can say it any where in front of 138 crore people, that if ever in need I hope he’s never in need, if ever in need in life I’ll be the first one standing next to him for what he has done for Indian cricket and for what he is as a human being.”

Former Indian opener mentioned that he had been the vice-captain under Dhoni for the longest time. He said:
“See we can have different opinions you might think you might look at the game different way I might look at the game different way I have my own opinions he has got his own opinions. I have been actually the vice-captain longest time when he was the captain in fact I was probably the longest vice-captain he’s had in his tenure.”
Gambhir concluded by saying that had MS Dhoni batted at No.3 he would have broken every single record, which was created by all-time greats. He asserted:
“I have got soo much mutual respect for the kind of person, the kind of cricketer he is, and I have said it again, I can say it again, had he batted at No.3 he would have broken all the records, people talk about greats at No.3, he would have broken everything in white-ball cricket and the respect will remain and I will always be beside him whenever he is in need.”
