Former England National Cricket Team Test captain Joe Root has opened up on Ben Stokes’ appointment as new Test captain of England, asserting that he will always be there with Stokes throughout his journey as a skipper
On Thursday, it was revealed that Ben Stokes will be leading England’s Test team after Joe Root’s exit as a skipper, which made Stokes the 81st captain of the England Men’s Test team.

After being appointed as new Test captain Stokes thanked Root for his contributions to English cricket. He also mentioned that Root has played a big role in his development as a leader and said that Joe Root will always remain a key ally. He said:
“I am honoured to be given the chance to lead the England Test team. This is a real privilege, and I’m excited about getting started this summer.
“I want to thank Joe for everything he has done for English Cricket and for always being a great ambassador for the sport all across the world. He has been a massive part of my development as a leader in the dressing room, and he will continue to be a key ally for me in this role.“
Meanwhile, Root took to Twitter to post a picture with Ben Stokes and assert that they have always got each other’s backs.

Rob Key Gives His Opinion On Ben Stokes Replacing Joe Root As England’s Test Captain
England’s new Managing Director of Men’s Cricket Rob Key while reacting to Stokes’ appointment as the skipper said that he has been a strong leader in the dressing room for a very long time.
“I just think the time is right for him. He’s been a leader in that dressing room for a long, long time. He’s been the one that people turned to a lot of the time. He’s a strong leader, he’s got a good cricketing brain,” Key told Sky Sports.
Key added that Stokes was an obvious choice for the role considering his behaviour towards players and his outstanding cricket brain.
“Everything he’s done has got him to this point. He’s got a hell of a lot of empathy as well. For one of the great players, he cares about the people around him.
“He understands when people struggle, he understands when people might not be feeling great. All of those traits, as well as an outstanding cricket brain, make him the obvious choice,” he added.
