Michael Clarke has expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, emphasizing the Indian opener’s exceptional tactical skills and ability to read the game effectively. Clarke has long held the view that Rohit Sharma is a talented leader.
Rohit Sharma is leading the India National Cricket Team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He is one of those players who have performed exceptionally well as a captain. Michael Clarke believes in his ability to read the game and says that he is a great tactician.
“It will be, but I think his captaincy is very good. I’ve said that for a long time.
I think he’s a very good tactician. I think he reads the game really well. And everybody wants to open the batting in India in one-day cricket,” Michael Clarke said when asked about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
Michael Clarke Is In Awe Of Rohit Sharma’s Boundary Hitting Ability
Michael Clarke also acknowledged the widespread desire to open the batting in one-day cricket in India, highlighting the allure of the role. He underscored Rohit Sharma’s prowess in handling swing, making him a standout player in those conditions. Clarke pointed out that there are very few players in the game who can match Rohit Sharma’s power play and boundary-hitting ability.
“The thing about Rohit Sharma is if there’s any swing, he’s good enough to see that off. There are not too many players in the game that have a better power play, that hit more boundaries than Rohit Sharma,” Clarke added.
In Clarke’s assessment, as remarkable as Virat Kohli is, Rohit Sharma has the potential to be the most formidable player in the upcoming World Cup. He emphasized Rohit Sharma’s exceptional skills in the prevailing conditions, suggesting that he is capable of achieving remarkable milestones in terms of runs scored.
Clarke cited the example of Mitchell Marsh’s outstanding batting performance, noting that Rohit Sharma can score 150, 180, or even 200 runs due to his extraordinary talent and ability to excel in those conditions.
“So as good as Virat Kohli is, Rohit Sharma could be the most dangerous player in the World Cup. I just think he’s that good in those conditions. With Rohit, he could make a double hundred. Like we saw with Mitchell Marsh the other night, battered beautifully and made 90. Rohit Sharma can make 150, 180, 200. He is that good,” Michael Clarke concluded.
India is one of the favorites to win the World Cup this year and Australia is one of the biggest challenges they will face in the World Cup as they are five-time world champions. After facing Australia in Chennai, India will move to Delhi to face Afghanistan on 11th October.
