Former India player Dodda Ganesh hailed India head coach Rahul Dravid after Team India won the Asia Cup 2023. Dodda Ganesh also highlighted the fact that Rahul Dravid is blamed when the team fails but is forgotten when the team wins.
Rahul Dravid has been criticized for his coaching style multiple times. The former Indian captain was criticized during the IND vs WI series last month. Dravid made a lot of changes in playing XI and batting order during the series which did not go down with many.
India lost an ODI match to West Indies but managed to grab the series 2-1. In the two ODI games, seniors like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were rested while Hardik Pandya led the team. Later, the men-in-blue lost 3 T20I games out of 5 to lose the T20I series.
Dodda Ganesh Lauds Rahul Dravid On Twitter
Taking to Twitter, former India right-handed batsman Dodda Ganesh heaped praises on Rahul Dravid for India’s victory. He also pointed out that people forget Dravid when India wins.
He wrote, “India on the verge of a thumping win today in the #AsiaCup finals. And, Rahul Dravid is still not trending on X. Well, only the blame goes to Rahul when the team fails, but when the team wins, he’ll be forgotten. Well, the kind of world we live in”.
“I so badly want India to win the #WC2023 for the sake of Dravid. The unsung hero of Indian cricket #INDvSL,” the 50-year-old wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Have a look at his tweet below.
Rahul Dravid became head coach in 2021 when Ravi Shastri left the position. However, Dravid was criticized for India’s failure to win big tournaments.
Last year, India lost the T20 World Cup semi-final game to England and failed to reach the final in the Asia Cup. This year, the men-in-blue lost to Australia in the ICC World Test Championship final.
However, Rohit Sharma & Co. crushed Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the Asia Cup 2023 final. India bowled out them for just 50 runs and later won the game by 10 wickets with ease. Mohammed Siraj hunted 6 wickets to win the Player of the Match award.
This is a great achievement for Dravid because it is the first multi-nation tournament that India has won under his guidance. Now, Rahul Dravid will aim to drive Team India to ICC World Cup 2023 title this year.
