Virat Kohli's fans climb trees to watch their star play
Virat Kohli made his first appearance at the iconic WACA ground, Perth on November 13, Wednesday for a full-fledged nets session. Knowing that he was close to them, Kohli's fans could not resist and climbed the trees to watch their favorite star bat.
According to a report by The West, people not only climbed tees but also brought their own ladders with them to catch just a glimpse of Kohli. It was proof of his huge fan following even in Australia.
How was Virat Kohli's net session?
Coming to his batting session, Kohli looked in good touch on a WACA pitch offering some bounce. He defended the ball well and looked comfortable at the crease. He looked quite assured of his strokes which is a good sign for India and him.
He looked at ease against the rising ball despite a few balls hittin his glove. After a session of fast bowling, Kohli moved to the other nets to face some spin. While Australian fast bowlers will always be a threat in these conditions, spinner Nathan Lyon too could prove to be difficult to handle and Kohli needs to be wary of him.
Kohli has been going through a horror run in recent times. The 36-year-old had a lean run of form in the recent home Test season where he aggregated just one half-century in five Tests against Bangladesh and New Zealand.
In the recent Test series against New Zealand, Kohli scored just 93 runs in three Tests at an average of 15.50. The 36-year-old has been in poor Test form for the past few years. He has scored just two hundreds in the last five years.
Virat Kohli's record in Australia
Virat Kohli has arrived on Australian shores this time in an attempt to revive his Test career. This is the same country where he established several milestones in his cricketing career, including his maiden Test ton and the twin hundreds in Adelaide.
Apart from these knocks, he also scored a memorable 82 off 53 balls against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG to take India home in a dramatic fashion.
Kohli has an excellent Test record in Australia. The 36-year-old batter has scored 1352 runs in 13 Tests he has played on Australian soil at an average of 54.08. He has struck 6 hundreds and 4 fifties Down Under.
