Kuldeep Yadav finished with figures of 2/35 as India registered their eighth win over Pakistan in ICC World Cups. He dismissed Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed after coming close to dismissing both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the match.

Kuldeep Trapped Shakeel in front of the stumps while dismissing Iftikhar round his legs as the latter tried to sweep against him. With those two wickets, Kuderp took his wickets tally to five from three games.

During the mid-innings break, Kuldeep spoke about how he planned Shaud Shakeel’s dismissal. The young batter played an impactful innings of 31 off 30 balls in Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka but was dismissed for just six against India. Iftikhar meanwhile was dismissed for just 4. He dismissed both Shakeel and Iftikhar in the same over to stumble Pakistan.

“I have been watching him (Shakeel) sweep a lot or the paddle, so I was trying to keep it wicket to wicket. Luckily I got him,” he said during the break.

He then spoke about his current bowling form and the things that he has been working on leading into the World Cup.

“I have been enjoying the World Cup. I knew where to bowl on this pitch. It’s a difficult wicket to bowl on to be honest, it’s on the slower side. They (Pakistan) were not trying too much, so kept it wicket to wicket varying my pace. First seven overs we didn’t give too much width, they were not trying to do much. Rizwan didn’t sweep me, I was hoping to make him play a bad shot,” he explained.

He concluded by speaking about playing his second World Cup and playing the India-Pakistan game in front of a huge crowd in Ahmedabad.

“Unbelievable to play in front of this crowd. This atmosphere is crazy, playing against Pakistan and seeing close to 90,000 people here,” Kuldeep said of the atmosphere.

India plays Bangladesh next on October 19 in Pune while Paksitan plays Australia on October 20 in Bengaluru.
