Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim recently picked the top five best captains in the history of the India National Cricket Team.
Saba Karim picked legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni, who guided the national team to three ICC trophies, as the best Indian captain in history.
Saba Karim made his international debut for India during an ODI match against South Africa at Bloemfontein in 1997.
The former batter scored 55 in his debut match, which is his lone half-century in international cricket. He played one Test and 34 ODI matches for India in his brief career.
However, his international career was cut short after a serious right-eye injury while keeping to Anil Kumble during the 2000 Asia Cup in Dhaka.
Karim was forced to announce his retirement at the age of 33. The former batter also served as a national selector for the Indian cricket team.
Saba Karim Rates Top 5 Best Indian Captains In The History
In an interview with NDTV, Saba Karim shared his list of the top five best Indian cricket captains. Karim placed MS Dhoni at the top, followed by star batter Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma, currently leading India, was placed third, with Kapil Dev in the fourth spot and Sourav Ganguly in fifth place.

MS Dhoni Captained Team India to Three ICC Trophies as Captain
MS Dhoni captained the Indian cricket team to title victory during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa.
He then guided the team to victory in the ODI World Cup 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013. He announced his retirement from international cricket in August 2020.
Virat Kohli failed to secure the title victory in ICC tournaments as captain. However, the right-handed batter showed his aggressive approach in captaincy across formats.
The Delhi cricketer became the first Indian skipper to secure victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series in Australia.
Rohit Sharma Currently Leading Team India In ODIs And Test Cricket
Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian cricket team in ODIs and Test cricket. The right-handed batter announced his retirement from T20Is after his success during the T20 World Cup 2024.
Rohit became the third Indian skipper, after Dhoni and Kapil Dev, to win an ICC trophy for the Men in Blue.
Kapil Dev brought India its first World Cup in 1983. Kapil captained the Indian national cricket team in 34 Test matches and 74 ODIs during his career.
Sourav Ganguly is known for shaping the modern Indian team. Ganguly guided the Indian team to the 2003 World Cup final, where they suffered a loss.
