IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma or MS Dhoni? Piyush Chawla picks better captain

Mumbai Indians player Piyush Chawla talked about the difference between the leadership of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. He didn't pick one as the superior to the other as he feels both are on the same level.

Both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are two of the finest to have played the game of cricket. While there have been no questions about the class they both possess with the bat, the duo has often been compared based on the leadership skills that they possess.

Both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni have done great things for the Indian National Cricket Team. While the keeper-batter has been sensational, leading India to 3 ICC trophies, Rohit, on the other hand, recently guided the team to the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni have been up against each other in the IPL as well. The two captains have given a tight fight to each other as they both have five titles as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, respectively.

But in terms of finals, it has been Rohit who has always outshined the keeper-batter.

Piyush Chawla hailed both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni as calm characters, saying that they don't panic easily.

He said that both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are successful because of the two greats, adding that one cannot compare them. Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel, he explained:

"If you look at both of them, they are very calm characters. They don't panic easily. They read the situation of the game and how they move the game is impressive. What is the job of a captain and a leader, to run the game. Sometimes the pace of the game is too fast and you have to slow down the game.

"Sometimes things are going well and you try to finish the overs quickly. The way both of them play the game, I think that's why these two franchises are the most successful. You can't compare between them, to be honest."

Piyush Chawla also added that both Rohit and MS Dhoni are different but they are very similar in the way they lead the team. He said that rating one better than the other would be unfair. He elaborated:

"Both of them are different. You can say they are similar, but still, they are different. So you can't pick one. Because if you say Dhoni is better than Rohit or Rohit is better than Dhoni then that will be unfair."

Dhoni is likely to play in the IPL 2025 while on the other hand, Rohit Sharma will be seen in action in the Test series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team next. The two-match Test series will kick start on 19th September at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
