In a fun and unpredictable session, Indian cricketer KL Rahul faced a unique challenge as he ranked some of the world's top cricketers without knowing who would come next.

Raj Varma kicked off the Kiraat session on Instagram, putting Rahul's quick thinking to the test as he asked the batter to rank players in a "blind" format, starting with the batters' edition.

The twist in the game was that Rahul had no clue about which cricketer would be named next, forcing him to be strategic with his choices. The first name thrown at him was the explosive Australian opener Travis Head, and Rahul decided to play it safe by ranking him at number five, knowing that some heavyweights were likely to be asked to rank.

He stated, “Because I know you're going to throw some Indian players.” When Rohit Sharma’s name was called next, Rahul gave the Indian skipper the second spot, clearly anticipating bigger names to come.

Sure enough, Pakistan’s white-ball captain Babar Azam, and India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav soon made the list, and Rahul placed them carefully at fourth and third, respectively.

By the time Virat Kohli’s name was revealed, the right-handed batter confidently declared the Indian batting legend as his number one pick and said, “I know, I know. He is the number one,” ending the round with no changes in the ranking.

In the second round, it was time for the bowlers. Legendary England pacer Jimmy Anderson led the pack, with Rahul acknowledging his wisdom by putting him at number two.

But when Dale Steyn’s name came up, the Indian wicketkeeper didn’t hesitate to place the South African pace legend at the top spot.

Well, the Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan was slotted in at number four, followed by India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah at number three by Rahul.

As Pakistan’s young pace sensation Naseem Shah rounded out the list at fifth, Rahul signed off by saying, “Yeah, the fifth one. And no changes.”

Meanwhile, KL Rahul has been named in the India squad for the first Test of the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

However, Sarfaraz Khan was also named in the squad, raising questions about whether Rahul will get a place in the playing XI.

KL Rahul confirmed to play in the first Test against Bangladesh

However, a BCCI source confirmed that KL Rahul will play in the first Test against Bangladesh, thanks to his previous record and current form in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024.

A BCCI source quoted PTI as saying: “For people on the outside, they don't understand how a team works and what the systems are in place. In his last three Test matches, KL scored a century in South Africa, one of the best Test knocks in recent times, and 86 at Hyderabad in the last Test he played before injury. He was not dropped but got injured. So, he is fit and available, scored a fifty in Duleep, got match time, and he will start.”
