Buzz for the upcoming India vs Bangladesh Test series has already started heating up, and more so after the BCCI announced the squad for the home series.

Sarfaraz Khan and Yash Dayal were also named in India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

Sarfaraz will reportedly continue to take part in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 even after being named in India's squad for the opening Test of the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

This development has left fans wondering whether he is on hold or something big behind the scenes is going forward.

Will Sarfaraz Khan and Yash Dayal feature in India's Test XI against Bangladesh?

The 25-year-old Mumbai batter will remain with the India B team for the second round of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, which is a bit of a surprise, as he was picked in the national squad.

A PTI journalist claimed that Sarfaraz may not get a chance in the first Test against Bangladesh. Similarly, the left-arm pacer Yash Dayal, who is considered one of the bright prospects for the Indian bowling unit, will be busy in the ongoing red-ball tournament.

All speculations about Dayal’s Test debut have further increased after his father spoke in an interview about how the pacer had asked his parents to come to Chennai, where the first game will be held on September 19.

This hinted that the India B pacer is likely to make his Test debut in Chennai, as this becomes a common thing for parents to witness their children’s debut in the international arena.

Yash Dayal is set to be the 16th member of India against Bangladesh

However, a PTI report unfolded a fresh twist, as some sources close to developments said Dayal could just be the 16th member of the squad to help the Indian cricket team batters prepare for the Test series.

Bangladesh is expected to bring the left-arm pacer Shariful Islam for the upcoming Test series, and the Indian cricket team management wants to groom Dayal, who will help the batter with that angle and trajectory a Shariful type of bowler brings on, the upcoming Test series.

Well, Dayal's presence will give India more options while honing his skills before the Test series. If the reports are to be believed, both Sarfaraz and Dayal remain doubtful starters for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, who recently crushed Pakistan in a two-match Test series.

Bangladesh to land in Chennai four days before the first Test

It is being said that the Bangladesh cricket team is set to arrive in Chennai four days before the opening test, which kicks off on September 19, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

This early arrival highlights Bangladesh’s strategy to adjust to the conditions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is known for its tricky pitches and electrifying environment.

On the other hand, the Indian squad is yet to gather for the first Test against Bangladesh. The second Test of the series will be held in Lucknow on September 27, followed by three T20Is.
