Former England batsman Marcus Trescothick felt that the England team should have played a certain amount of red-ball cricket before coming into the home series against India. England had no answer to the Excellent bowling of the England team and it did not look good for the home side at the end of the day’s play.

All the English batsmen except the skipper perished before getting to 30 and eventually were bowled out for 183 in their first innings in the Trent Bridge Test. In reply, India started off their first innings really well to hold on to the day’s play without losing a wicket and are in a comfortable situation with 21 for no loss at stumps.

Marcus Trescothick Reckons Tests Scheduling Might Be the Issue For England

Marcus Trescothick felt that England hadn’t played adequate red ball games to be ready for the India series and he blamed the schedule to be one of the reasons. He stressed the fact that England needed to spend a lot more time with the red ball and he wasn’t particularly into just this solution. The England team is coming off a limited-overs series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan followed by the Hundred tournament going on.

“Scheduling is always an issue and, trying to get the balance right for the batters moving into Test series, of course you would want them to play a certain amount of red-ball cricket,”

“Of course, we don’t want to use it as an excuse but we’d love to get more time into them at the crease – bowling with the red ball, facing the red ball. But it’s not the way so you have to find a way and get into it in a different fashion.” Marcus Trescothick told

“Today Has Not Been The Ideal Day” – Marcus Trescothick

Marcus Trescothick admitted that the day wasn’t ideal for England and he wanted the home side to get back in the game as soon as possible. He also was confident that still there is enough time for England to make a comeback in the test and this will not be a pattern for them in the entire series.

“We’ll go away, lick our wounds and find a way to try and get back in the game. Today has not been the ideal day. Of course not, but that does not define how the rest of the game or the rest of the series is going to go.” He added
