Former England captain Nasser Hussain feels that the current Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant might not be ideal at number six in English conditions and suggests him to come at seven. Rishabh Pant did not have the best of games in the World Test Championship finals against New Zealand despite being the top scorer in the second innings.

He never looked in control and was taking way too many risks in a situation where India needed to bat time. However, he is going to be a big player in the test series against England with his recent form before the World Test Championship and he is definitely a game-changer with the bat.

Nasser Hussain Confident Of England’s Bowling Resources

Nasser Hussain mentioned that England can get the job done with their bowling resources if they get to a par score in their first innings while batting. He also managed to analyze the Indian performances and suggested Rishabh Pant to one position down in the batting order at seven for the English conditions.

“Of what I have seen of India, if England can get a par score in the first innings, with the seam-bowling resources they have, then they should be confident. Rishabh Pant at six in England is one place too high,” Nasser Hussain said.

Nasser Hussain Opines On Indian Team Combination

Nasser Hussain noted the fact that India will miss the services of injured opener Shubman Gill and they will have to fit in someone like Mayank Agarwal who has been waiting in the wings. He added playing Ashwin and Jadeja in the team might not be ideal in England until it is a flat wicket or a belter of a pitch.

“India will have to find a new opener as Shubman Gill has been ruled out and can they afford to pick Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin if the ball is moving around? If they play on flat, belting pitches they can,” he added.
