The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the match officials for the highly anticipated semifinal matches of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC revealed the list of four on-field umpires, two TV umpires, and two referees for the upcoming semifinal matches in the marquee T20 tournament.
Afghanistan will face South Africa in their maiden World Cup semifinal match in Trinidad on Wednesday, June 26 (local time). South Africa never made it to the final match in the eight editions of the T20 World Cups. The Aiden Markram-led team remained unbeaten throughout the ongoing T20 tournament.
Richard Illingworth and Nitin Menon will officiate as the on-field umpires for the first semi-final match between Afghanistan and South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024. Richard Kettleborough will serve as the TV umpire, and Ahsan Raza will act as the fourth umpire for this knockout match in the tournament.
Defending champions England will take on the Rohit Sharma-led team in the second semifinal match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. India sealed the semifinal berth by defeating Australia in their last Super 8 match, while England secured two wins out of three matches in the Super 8.
Chris Gaffaney and Rodney Tucker have been named as the on-field umpires for the second semi-final match between India and England. Joel Wilson will be the TV umpire, with Paul Reiffel serving as the fourth umpire for this crucial encounter between unbeaten Team India and defending champions England.
