The second game of the ongoing five-match IND vs ENG series between India and England will be taking place on Saturday (January 25, 2025). The second IND vs ENG T20I will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

India are currently leading the series after winning the first game by 7 wickets. The Men in Blue completely outplayed England in all the departments in the series opener.

Batting first, England were all out for just 132 runs. Barring captain Jos Buttler, who scored 68 runs, no other England batter could make any substantial contribution with the bat.

England's bowlers did not have a good outing either. India chased down the total in less than 13 overs and lost only 3 wickets.

The architect of the quick chase was opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored 79 runs off just 34 balls. With both the teams now gearing up for the second T20I, here is the preview of the game.

IND vs ENG Match Preview- 2nd T20I, England tour of India 2025:

IND vs ENG 2nd T20I Date and Venue:

The upcoming second IND vs ENG T20I will be played on Saturday (January 25) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The match will be played from 7:00 PM (IST).

Squads:

India:

Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Nitish Reddy, Mohd Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Harisht Rana, Dhruv Jurel, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar.

England:

Jos Buttler (c), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Jamie Smith, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Phil Salt, Mark Wood

IND vs ENG key battles:

Jofra Archer vs Sanju Samson:

In an otherwise disappointing outing for England in the first T20I, Jofra Archer's performance was one of the very few positives. While most of the England bowlers were taken to the cleaners, the right-arm pacer once again showed why he is still regarded as one of the best bowlers in the world.

Archer bowled four overs and gave away just 21 runs while picking up two wickets as well. With Archer looking in good rhythm, England would be hoping that he maintains the same form in the second T20I and gives them a good start by dismissing the dangerous Sanju Samson early.

In the first T20I, Samson was batting on 26 runs before being sent back by Archer. Samson can win a game single-handedly and England would be relying on Archer to get rid of the India opener early.

Arshdeep Singh vs Phil Salt:

The onus will be on Phil Salt to give England a good start with the bat in the second T20I. England got off to a poor start in the first T20I and never really got the impetus for the rest of the innings. Salt can blow away any attack on his day and India will be relying on Arshdeep Singh to ensure that the England opener does not inflict too much damage on them.

Arshdeep won the first round against Salt by dismissing him for a duck in the first T20I and will be eyeing more success against him.

Jos Buttler vs Varun Chakravarthy:

Jos Buttler led his team from the very front in the first game. While none of his teammates could even reach the 20-run mark, he waged a lone battle and played a fighting knock of 68 runs. With England now eyeing a crucial series-leveling win, Buttler will be looking to deliver as a captain once again.

Buttler is known for his ability to deliver in crunch situations and India will be relying on their in-form spinner Varun Chakravarthy to dismiss the England captain. Chakravarthy picked up 3 wickets in the first game including that of Buttler and will be fancying his chances against him once again.

IND vs ENG Key Players

IND - Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Arshdeep Singha, and Varun Chakravarthy will be the key players for India.

ENG - Phil Salt, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Ben Duckett, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, and Adil Rashid will be the key players for England.

IND vs ENG Weather And Pitch Report:

There is no prediction for rain in Chennai on the match day. The temperature will be hovering between 20-25 degrees Celsius during the game time. The humidity will be around 80 percent throughout the game.

As far as the pitch is concerned, the spinners are likely to dominate the proceedings in Chennai. The surface has traditionally assisted spinners and the batsmen will have to apply themselves to score big.

Conclusion:

High-flying India will be looking to go 2-0 up in the IND vs ENG series. With form on their side, they will be looking to make the most of it. England, on the other hand, will be desperate to win the upcoming game to draw level.

A loss in the upcoming game will leave England with the tough task of winning the remaining three games to clinch the series.
