India National Cricket Team modern-day batting great Virat Kohli was seen bowling in the nets for a considerable amount of time ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 clash against England National Cricket Team, according to RevSportz.
The Rohit Sharma & Co. have been flying high in the marquee tournament, having registered five back-to-back victories. The Men In Blue have won comprehensively against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand with the Black Caps being the side that gave India some good competition.
In the middle of the exceptional performance in the competition, India suffered a massive blow as star all-rounder Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury against Bangladesh and missed the next fixture against New Zealand.
As per TOI, Hardik Pandya is doubtful for the upcoming matches of India as he is suspected to have a Grade 1 ligament tear in his ankle. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, India lack a 6th bowling option and they field a combination of 5 bowlers and 6 batters.
Virat Kohli Bowls In The Nets
India had an optional training session on Wednesday in Lucknow and all the players, barring Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami, and Hardik Pandya took part in the session.
Virat Kohli started the training session with throwdowns at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. He was then seen bringing out his bowling avatar and he bowled to the Indian openers, as per RevSportz.
Kohli bowled to Rohit Sharma and the Indian captain looked good while facing the deliveries from the star player. Shubman Gill also faced Virat Kohli’s deliveries in the nets and he looked confident with the bat.
Kohli fine-tuning his bowling skills could be a hint that he might roll his arms over in the upcoming games, if and when needed as relying on five bowlers sometimes may backfire as anybody can have a bad day.
Notably, Virat Kohli also bowled to complete the over of all-rounder Hardik Pandya after he sustained the injury in the middle of the over and walked off the field. Also, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav bowled off-spinners for 15-20 minutes each.
India National Cricket Team will be next seen in action when they will take on defending champions England National Cricket Team at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on October 29.
