Bhuvneshwar Kumar played his last Test match for India back in the year 2018 against South Africa in Johannesburg. Kumar has played a total of 229 international matches for India and has picked up 294 wickets at an average of 29.50. He has picked up a total of seven five-wicket hauls whereas his best performance was 6/82.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a tremendous entry into the international circuit when he dismissed Pakistani batsman Mohammad Hafeez on his first international ball back in 2012. Kumar is known to be one of the best bowlers that Indian cricket has ever produced and also used to lead the Indian pace attack at one point. However, in the current scenario, the selectors are not considering Kumar in the current setup of the Indian team.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s career in international career has also been full of injuries due to which he has to be ruled out of the team. Kumar has been brilliant for his Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and also won the purple cap twice in the year 2016 and 2017.
In the present scenario, the Indian cricket team is full of bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, and many more who have raised the bar of fast bowling in India. With such increased competition, Bhuvneshwar Kumar doesn’t fit in the Indian cricket team playing XI.
However, with the kind of pace bowling skills, he is showing up in the Ranji Trophy, the selectors cannot neglect him. India have one of the best pace bowling attacks in the world and showcased some brilliant performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was the leading wicket-taker in the 2023 ODI World Cup and ended the tournament with 24 wickets. Shami picked up three five-wicket hauls in the whole tournament and destroyed the opposition totally in almost every match of the tournament.
Mohammed Siraj as well has proved to be an express pacer in the last few years and picks up wickets in the powerplay. Siraj blew away South Africa in the recent Cape Town Test and picked up a six-fer in the first innings. His performance helped India win the Cape Town Test by seven wickets.
