Yashasvi Jaiswal made a fantastic start to his international career. He scored a century in his debut Test match and a match-winning fifty in only his second T20I. He was one of India’s biggest positives from the recently concluded series against West Indies.

Jaiswal will now play in the series against Ireland. With no Shhubman Gill, who played the last series, the southpaw will be amongst the key batters for India in the series. He is most likely to open the batting with Ruturaj Gaikwad who is part of the new-look Indian squad for the series.

Nasser Hussain in a session with the ICC review spoke about Jaiswal after he saw him play in the West Indies series. He said the youngster made sure that he was noticed by his performances in the series.

Nasser Hussain Impressed By Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Good Start To International Career

“From what I’ve seen…he’s (Jaiswal) made a fantastic start. You speak to people who have seen him in the IPL, again I’ve been working with Ricky (Ponting) and Dinesh (Karthik) came over, and you ask questions, and they all go, yeah, this lad can play,” Hussain said in ICC Review.

“He looks to have the technique and he looks to have that mindset. Like most young Indian players and batters in particular, most of them come in and have immediate success. And that is a good sign for first-class cricket, that they are being produced, not just the IPL,” he further added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a fabulous IPL 2023 season scoring 625 runs in 14 games that paved the path for his India debut. He scored a century and five fifties in the season. Overall, he has scored 1172 runs in 37 matches in the IPL.

Apart from being consistent in the IPL, Jaiswal was consistent in the domestic circuit as well. He has over 2000 runs in 17 First-class games and has already scored 10 centuries. He also has 5 tons in 32 List A games where he has scored more than 1500 runs at an average of 53.96.
