Mukesh Kumar became the second Indian bowler to make his debut in all formats in a single tour after T Natarajan. He made his Test debut against West Indi in Dominica, ODI debut in Barbados, and T20I debut in Trinidad.

He picked a total of nine international wickets in the series but still could not make his mark as per former Indian pacer RP Singh. Mukesh took two test wickets, four ODI wickets, and three T20I wickets in the recently concluded tour to West Indies.

With the senior bowlers rested, Mukesh was one of the young bowlers tried out in the series. He bowled well in patches but could not deliver the match-winning spell that was expected of him.

In a conversation with Jio Cinema, RP Singh said Mukesh’s role was not very defined in the series, and thus what he brings to the table is still unclear.

“The team management and captain will have to think about how they want to use him. In the current picture, Mukesh Kumar’s role didn’t get defined for sure. It didn’t get defined what he brings to the table as a bowler” RP Singh told Jio Cinema.

The former Indian bowler further said that he should have been given more overs with the new ball but was made to bowl with the old ball instead.

“In my opinion, you need to give a fast bowler a few overs with the new ball and then at the death. Probably after one stage, the Indian team management and captain agreed that he is a death bowler and that is why he was seen bowling towards the end” Singh further said on Mukesh.

Mukesh Kumar Tried His Best To Complete The Job Given To Him: RP Singh

Singh concluded by saying that Mukesh tried to make the most of the task given to him as he was not given an opportunity to showcase his full potential.

“He did exceptionally well in whatever tasks were given to him. He tried his best to complete whatever job was given to him. The captain has also said that you will be given different-different situations. In the last T20I, he bowled only one over. I am sure there would have been clarity on that beforehand” concluded RP Singh.

Mukesh Kumar is a part of the Indian T20I squad for the three-match T20I series led by Jasprit Bumrah who is making a comeback to international cricket.
