KKR star Rinku Singh has been included in India’s Asian Games 2023 and Ireland squad. India will take on Ireland in a three-match T20I series between August 18-23. There are possibilities of Rinku making his T20I debut for India.
The southpaw took IPL 2023 by storm scoring 474 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders and scoring four half-centuries in the process. He hit five sixes off five balls against Gujarat Titans in the season creating an IPL record.
Heading into the Irelands series, Rinku spoke about his approach to the game in his own cool, calm and composed way.
“My job is to score runs. If I get an opportunity, I would try to do well,” Rinku told PTI. He further said he prefers staying in the present and lets his hard work do all the talking.
He further accepted that life has changed for him since IPL 2023 as more and more people have started recognizing him. He will also be building a hostel close to the Aligarh cricket ground where he first began his cricket lessons. This hostel will house at least 15 underprivileged boys who will receive training under his coach, Masood Amini.
People Now Recognise Me: Rinku Singh
“Life has changed a lot as people now recognise me. I never believe in hyping things up. I want to keep things normal and play normal cricket,” Rinku said.
The Ireland series will be Rinku’s first international assignment for India that he is a part of. The series also sees the comeback of Jasprt Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna. Rinku’s KKR teammate Nitish Rana was one of the deserved names who was not included in the young squad for the Ireland series.
