Sanju Samson‘s T20I figures in the just-concluded series against West Indies have forced cricket experts to speak about their opinion on his future. Samson scored just 32 runs in the five-match series against West Indies averaging 10.67.

He was given all five games and backed by the team management to express himself. However, the talented batter failed to justify his selection also his incredible talent that is spoken about. Samson is a part of the T20I squad that was named for the upcoming Ireland series.

He will get another three matches to prove his potential. However former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar has suggested a possible replacement for him. He said that the team missed him by sending t at number five and below.

“I believe if you want to utilize Sanju Samson more, bat him at No. 3 because that is his number. He is used to that and he is successful there, or else don’t play him,” said Nayar on JioCinema.

Play Rinku Singh Instead Of Sanju Samson At Number 5 Or 6: Abhishek Nayar

He further said that if Samson is needed to bat at number five or six, Rinku Singh is a better option. The Southpaw made it to the Ireland squad following his memorable season with KKR in IPL 2023.

“If you are going to play him at No. 5 or No. 6, play Rinku Singh instead. If you play Samson in the top three, you will get more out of him because he plays shots in the powerplay and then plays the spinners. So I believe not the right place but he will get opportunities,” said the former India batter.

Samson’s T20I figures are very poor. In 22 T20I matches, he has scored 333 runs with just one fifty-plus score. He averages just 18.50 in his T20I career with a strike rate of 131.62. Samson had a good opportunity to better his T20I numbers in the series against West Indies but he failed to do so. It will be interesting to see how whether he plays in the Irland T20I series.
