Former New Zealand seamer Trent Boult had admitted that the T20 World cup final does hurt but is looking forward to making it big in the upcoming series in India. Despite an excellent run in the tournament, New Zealand finally had to go down against Australia in the all-important game, and their wait for a limited-overs ICC trophy still goes on.

New Zealand lost a crucial toss, and Kane Williamson’s brilliant show of 85 off just 48 balls took the Kiwis to a total of 172 at the end of 20 overs. However, Australia chased down the score with 7 balls left on the back of Warner’s half-century and Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 77. New Zealand will not have to pick themselves up for the series in India, which starts on the 17th of November.

The Boys Did Themselves Proud With What We Achieved – Trent Boult

Trent Boult mentioned that they will have to move forward despite the emotions behind the loss in the finals again. He noted about the series in India straightaway after the T20 World cup, and they had to fly soon to Jaipur for the first T20I. He explained the performance against England in the semi-finals, making them proud and felt unfortunate not to win the World cup.

“I have had time to process the result and yeah, it still hurts a little bit to swallow the result but life goes on. We quickly went back to the hotel, packed our bags, and were on a chartered flight to Jaipur to play the series against India,”

“I think the boys did themselves proud with what we achieved in this tournament. We had a great performance against England and went to the final where, unfortunately we came out on the wrong end. The boys are hurting but hopefully next time we can go all the way,” Trent Boult told after the T20 World cup final.

Trent Boult Opines On Series In India

Trent Boult reckoned that the series in India is going to be tougher as well and noted that the team is looking forward to playing in India. Trent Boult will be part of the three-match T20 International series in India but has been rested for the two tests due to the workload.

“The World Cup final was a very big stage and second to that is probably coming to India and facing them in their own backyard. The boys are definitely looking forward to that,” he added.
