IND vs PAK: Danish Kaneria Makes Colossal "Yuzvendra Chahal Doesn't Deserve To Be In India" Remark Ahead Of Asia Cup 2023

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has made a huge remark on the senior India National Cricket Team leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, saying that he doesn’t deserve to be a part of India’s scheme of things currently.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been left out of India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad and the BCCI selection committee has decided to go with three spinners in the squad with Kuldeep Yadav providing the wrist-spin option and Axar Patel alongside Ravindra Jadeja being the left-arm spin-bowling all-rounders.

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria backed the BCCI selectors’ decision to drop Chahal. He said that Chahal hasn’t been effective in recent times and his bowling partner Kuldeep Yadav has delivered consistent performances and deserved to be in the squad.

“Yuzvendra Chahal doesn’t deserve to be in Team India right now. He has been very inconsistent. Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, has picked up wickets regularly and can be effective in the middle overs. The selectors took the right call by going with Kuldeep over Chahal.

During an event conducted by Cycle Pure Agarbathi, Sourav Ganguly also backed the decision to leave out Chahal. He said that Axar provides much-needed batting depth to the team, which Chahal doesn’t.

“They have picked Axar Patel ahead of (Yuzvendra) Chahal because of his batting. So I think it’s a good selection. Chahal can still come back if someone gets injured. This is a 17-member squad, two, in any case, will have to move out,” he said, as quoted by PTI.

However, Harbhajan Singh was disappointed with the selectors and said that Yuzvendra Chahal is India’s best spinner and he should have been named in the Asia Cup 2023 squad.

“The one thing I feel is lacking in the team is the absence of Chahal. A leg-spinner who can get the ball to turn away. If you talk about genuine spinner, I don’t think there’s any spinner in India better than Chahal in white-ball formats. Yes, his last few games weren’t good, but that doesn’t make him a bad bowler,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Although Rohit Sharma has said that the doors are open for Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Washington Sundar, the selection of the aforementioned players in the World Cup squad looks unlikely as the BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar has hinted that the squad for the World Cup will be similar to the Asia Cup.
