The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 is all set to take place on Sunday (9th June). The match between the two arch-rivals will be taking place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2024, the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York came under massive scanner. The surface is under scanner due to uneven bounce and has even seen players getting injured.

During the game between India and Ireland, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant faced a lot of blows on the board and it saw India's captain walking off the field as retired hurt. On the other hand, the keeper-batter looked in a lot of pain but battled hard to take his team home.

Not only the uneven bounce but the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York has seen a lot of movement off the surface. It has been lethal for batters as the fast bowlers have looked unplayable and have taken a lot of wickets.

It first came under scanner after the game between Sri Lanka and South Africa. The island nation got bundled out for just 77 while the Proteas side took over 16 overs to chase down the target and also lost 4 wickets on the way, which speaks to how difficult it was to bat.

International Cricket Council also released the official statement about the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. They stated that the surface hasn’t played as consistently as they would’ve wanted but the groundsmen are working hard to better the surface.

“T20 Inc. [the organising committee] and the ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted. The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday’s game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches.”

But with the India vs Pakistan game around the corner, there have been a lot of speculations about the pitch. There were even rumors that the International Cricket Council would be moving the game between the two arch-rivals out of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

India vs Pakistan match unlikely to be moved out of New York

With the rumors of the game between the two arch-rivals moving out of New York hogging the headlines, a report in Times London stated that India vs Pakistan game is unlikely to be moved and will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

It is learned that such nature of the pitch was due to the grassy veins in the track but the pitches now have been top-dressed and leveled to try to lessen the impact of the veins. This will push the grass in by rolling the wicket and will allow the ball to hit a flatter surface and therefore play better.
