Pakistan’s men’s cricket team director Mickey Arthur expressed delight with his team’s victory in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Mickey Arthur highlighted that Pakistani players worked hard to claim the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s ODI rankings.

The Babar Azam-led team whitewashed the Afghanistan team in the ODI series. They claimed the No. 1 ranking for the first time since the inception of the ICC rankings in 2005. Pakistan’s next assignment will be the Asia Cup 2023, which is set to begin on August 30.

This Signifies All The Hard Work – Mickey Arthur

In a video posted by Pakistan Cricket’s Twitter (X) handle, Mickey Arthur addressed the dressing room following their 59-run victory over Afghanistan in the third ODI.

“There is a cake here with the number one on it. This signifies all the hard work that you guys have put in over a period of time to get to number one in the world,” Arthur said.

“Never ever take this for granted. Let’s celebrate this tonight because there have been a lot of blood, sweat and tears that has gone into this. This is just the start, we are in operation World Cup,” he added.

The Series Victory Is Surely A Very Great Feeling – Babar Azam

During the same video, skipper Babar Azam said that it was a great feeling to become the No. 1 ODI side in the world at the moment.

“If today we became the No.1 ranked side in ODI cricket it’s because of our hard work. The series victory is surely a very great feeling and the unity that we showed in playing together is something that we need to carry forward,” Babar said

“The selflessness and commitment towards the team that each individual has shown is really great for the team. Enjoy this victory, but don’t forget we have the Asia Cup after four days and we need to carry this momentum forward. The best thing about this team is that here no one talks about personal record, all play as a team and that is very impressive, he added.
