Former Pakistan batsman, Salman Butt issued a warning to Rohit Sharma’s India as he feels the Men in Blue batting order will go through a tough test while facing Pakistan’s bowling attack with the new ball.
While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Salman Butt said that Shaheen Afridi will play a crucial role with the new ball as he can bring swing during the initial overs of an inning.
Salman Butt also warned Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli since they will be facing the new ball at first and the Indian openers need to be careful to face the threat and further said that if Virat Kohli loses his wicket it will be tough for the Men in Blues.
“Shaheen will swing the new ball and there will be two new balls so the ball won’t get as old as it does in T20. Rohit has to be careful while facing Shaheen as that’s where they could lose the plot. His early wicket could put pressure on Virat Kohli. So these two are key wickets for Pakistan bowlers,” Salman Butt said.
You can become a sensation if you perform in India vs Pakistan: Salman Butt before Rohit Sharma’s side lock horns against Pakistan
The former Pakistani skipper said playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) won’t help one player to ease the pressure of the India vs. Pakistan match.
Salman Butt added that for players who are not that experienced, it will be tough of them and if they perform in the match then the player will become a sensation.
“No matter how much IPL you play, the pressure of an India-Pakistan series is different. So for their players who aren’t that experienced, it won’t be that easy. But if you perform in a big game like India vs Pakistan, you can become a sensation,” added Salman Butt.
While talking about Pakistan’s batting order, the former player said that the Men in Green have better depth than Rohit Sharma-led India and Pakistan have a clear advantage in the match.
“Pakistan have a better batting depth than that of India. Even the likes of Shaheen and Naseem can be good enough for hitting a couple of lusty blows. You don’t see that in Indian fast bowlers apart from maybe Bumrah. So there lies the advantage for Pakistan and it is tilted a bit in their favor,” Butt further added.
In the Asia Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma-led India will square off against Babar Azam’s Pakistan on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
