IND vs PAK: Rohit Sharma Opens Up On India's ODI World Cup 2023 Squad, Says 'There’s A Possibility Of Ishan And KL Playing Together'

On Tuesday (September 5th), Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar attended a press conference to reveal the ODI World Cup 2023 squad of India.

While speaking at the press conference, Rohit Sharma was asked who would play in the ODI World Cup, Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul, then The Men in Blues skipper said that there is a chance that both the players would play together.

Rohit Sharma praised Ishan Kishan and said that Ishan Kishan’s inning against Pakistan was brilliant and has all the talent to make it into the playing eleven.

The 36-year-old skipper said that the decision would be taken before the match and asked all the players to stay fit before the ODI World Cup 2023.

“Yes, there’s a possibility of Ishan and KL playing together. Ishan’s last game was brilliant. We consider all factors before making playing 11. I want everyone to be fit on playing day and then we make a decision,” Rohit Sharma said.

India chief selector, Ajit Agarkar also applauded Ishan Kishan for his stupendous inning against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday (September 2nd).

Ajit Agarkar tried to avoid the question by saying that he will rather have a headache than giving an answer to this question and also stated that a decision will be taken once KL Returns from his injury.

Ajit Agarkar further added that the two players, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan need to fight to get their position since both of them are amazing players.

“Ishan Kishan played a lovely innings. You’d rather have a headache. There will be a conversation when KL Rahul returns. Happy to have two players who will fight for a place than the other way around,” Ajit Agarkar said.

Rohit Sharma-led India will start their World Cup 2023 journey against Australia on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, the most anticipated match of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played on October 14th between India and Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
