Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav sent a message of support to Mumbai-born USA left-arm seamer Saurabh Netravalkar for helping his side beat Pakistan yesterday.

Babar Azam's men went head-to-head with first-timers USA in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the result of the match was one that none of us expected. The co-hosts made full use of the momentum they picked up in their opening Group A match against Canada on June 2nd. Even before that, the United States had won their first-ever bilateral series against a full-member ICC nation.

Sourabh Netravalkar, who took USA over the victory line yesterday, was a part of the team that had defeated Bangladesh by 2-1 in a 3-match T20I series. The co-hosts are now on top of Group A with 4 points and are currently the only team in their group with a 100% win record.

Yesterday's victory against Pakistan was one they'll remember forever and a congratulatory message did not only come from the USA but also from the Indian team.

What did Suryakumar Yadav say to Saurabh Netravalkar?

Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Netravalkar go a long way back as they were Mumbai teammates in the Indian domestic circuit. Surya and Saurabh have played a lot of matches together in List A as well as First-class cricket. Their bonding is that of brothers and the Instagram story shared by Surya depicted just how well the duo gel with each other.

Right after Saurabh Netravalkar led the USA to victory in those decisive six balls in the Super Over, Suryakumar Yadav took to Instagram and congratulated his friend. It will be fair to say that both of them shared the same goal of beating Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with Saurabh's team becoming the first to do so.

Two days later, Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian team have the opportunity to beat Pakistan when they meet Babar Azam's side on June 9th. New York's Nassau County Stadium will play host to the fixture. It will be a historic game as the land of America will witness what an Indo-Pak match feels like.

But before that match takes place, we must take a look at Suryakumar Yadav's message to his former Mumbai teammate. The 360-degree batter posted a picture of Sourabh Netravalkar celebrating USA's victory with teammate Harmeet Singh, who also has Indian origins.

Surya tagged both Sourabh and Harmeet in that post and asked the latter to celebrate easily. And to his beloved former Mumbai mate, Surya wrote, "Hats off to you" in Marathi.

USA skipper Monank Patel becomes man of the match against Pakistan

USA skipper Monank Patel, who was born in Gujarat, became man of the match during his side's 5-run win over Pakistan in the Super Over. Patel had scored 50 off 38 balls and he could have even guided his team to the victory had he not lost the wicket but he will be happy with the result regardless.
