Indian Cricket Team won yet another ODI series against Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue won the 2nd ODI by 4 wickets whereas KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya bailed out the team from a precarious position. The right-arm speedster Mohammad Shami was quite expensive as he gave away 43 runs in 7 overs where he went wicketless.

Mohammad Siraj continued his good run where he bagged 3 scalps & gave away 30 runs in his 5.4 overs. The pacer was bowling wicket to wicket and hardly gave ample room to the batters. It won’t be wrong to say that Siraj has cemented his place for the World Cup 2023.

Gautam Gambhir on Mohammed Shami

Gautam Gambhir was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about Mohammed Shami.

“I would like to see Arshdeep Singh come in for Mohammad Shami. Give Mohammad Shami a break because he will have to do a lot of bowling against Australia if Bumrah is not fit.

“And in the same time, you can groom Arshdeep in the ODI format as well. I don’t mind India rotating their fast bowlers, but you cannot give your batters a break, they got to keep playing consistently in the ODI format,” said Gautam Gambhir.

Concerns for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka at one stage where in a good position at 102-1 but they lost 6 wickets for 50 runs which ruined all their hard work. The island nation would be hoping for a better performance in the 3rd ODI as one of the top 4 batters need to play a long and significant innings for the team.

The management would be considering bringing back Maheesh Theekshana in the playing 11 as the spinner has the knack of picking up wickets at crucial stages of the match. Theekshana can be an option in the power-play overs as well where he can fox the batters with his variations.
