Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss the India vs Sri Lanka (IND vs SL) match of Asia Cup 2023. According to reports, Shreyas Iyer is not fully fit and will require more time to get on the field. As a result, he will not be available for the IND vs SL match.
Shreyas Iyer was not picked in the IND vs PAK match of Asia Cup 2023. The right-handed batsman was removed from the team in the final moments due to a back issue. As a result, KL Rahul replaced him in the match.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Shreyas Iyer will not be part of the IND vs SL game and is under the supervision of team management in Colombo. BCCI and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) are monitoring his progress.
Shreyas Iyer last played for India in the IND vs AUS series in March 2023. Later, he could not play in IPL 2023 due to a back injury. He underwent a surgery in London in April. He was part of the earlier clash against Pakistan in the group stage, where he scored 14 runs. Later, he did not get a chance to bat in the clash against Nepal.
In the previous clash against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma revealed at the toss that Shreyas Iyer faced the niggle during warm-up. He also informed that KL Rahul was added to the team just 5 minutes ahead of the match.
“And then KL, to return from injury and then find out 5 minutes before the toss that he’s playing, and to perform the way he did, it shows the mindset of the player”, Sharma had said.
KL Rahul played his first international game for India in the IND vs PAK match after making his comeback. He shattered a century against Pakistan. He slammed unbeaten 111 runs off 106 balls, smashing 12 fours and 2 sixes. Post the match, Rahul also revealed he was a little nervous ahead of the game.
“Obviously, this is my first international match after a long time. I played a couple of practice games, but we all know the intensity is not the same. So when I walked in, I had that initial nervousness. It took me 10-15 balls to just calm myself down and get my feet moving, get my mind thinking of the right things”, KL Rahul said.
Meanwhile, India crushed Pakistan by 228 runs in the previous match. India piled up a mammoth 356-6 in 50 overs batting first. Later, they restricted Pakistan to 128 all-out. Virat Kohli won the player of the match award for his unbeaten knock of 122.
