Former Indian wicketkeeper Saba Karim lauded Ravichandran Ashwin for his brilliant bowling display in the first Test against the West Indies in Dominica. Saba Karim highlighted Ravichandran Ashwin’s willingness to learn and improve his bowling skills.

Ravichandran Ashwin played a vital role in India’s convincing victory over the West Indies in the first Test of the series. The experienced off-spinner claimed 12 wickets in the match. The hosts were bowled out for 150 runs and 130 runs in the two innings, respectively.

Ravichandran Ashwin Keeps Adding So Many New Things – Saba Karim

During a discussion on JioCinema, Saba Karim said that Ravichandran Ashwin constantly adds new skills to his bowling arsenal, which serves as an inspiration for young spinners.

“He is always willing to learn and that is what is remarkable about R Ashwin. Even in this game, you would have noticed that he was able to gauge the weakness of the batters quickly and then he went around trying to set them up. You could see him change the angle accordingly,” Karim said.

“As an off-spin bowler he keeps adding so many new things to his armoury and I feel that there is a lot for the young spinners to learn from him,” he added.

Ravichandran Ashwin claimed a five-wicket haul in the first innings and followed it up with seven wickets in the second innings. The 36-year-old ended with impressive figures of 12/131, his eighth 10-wicket haul in Tests.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Had Come Well Prepared For A Test Match – Saba Karim

Saba Karim lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden century in India’s first innings, highlighting his ability to adapt to different conditions and situations.

“The fact that he played on all three days, he played through different conditions of the surface here, in different scenarios, in different phases, and he batted in such an accomplished manner and that’s what you would love to see in a young batter and it seems he had come well prepared for a Test match like this,” he concluded.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut memorable by scoring a magnificent hundred in India’s first innings. The left-handed batter scored 171 runs, including 16 fours and a six. The Southpaw was named Player of the Match for his outstanding knock.
