Shubman Gill has become the permanent opener for India in all three formats. The right-handed batsman shattered a double century in an ODI against New Zealand earlier this year. With 5 centuries in 2023 in international cricket, Gill has cemented his place in the national team as an opener.

Hope Shubman Gill Will Lead Team India One Day: Harbhajan Singh
While speaking on News24 Sports, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh said that Shubman Gill is an outstanding player and it’s pleasing to watch when he bats.
“The hard work his father has put in, the only way that can be repaid is if he plays for India for 15-20 years. The talent and the sort of mindset he has, whatever little I know him, he is an outstanding player. It is so pleasing to watch when he bats,” Harbhajan Singh said.

The former off-spinner also hopes that Gill will continue to play for India for many years and will lead the team one day.
“I hope that he will continue to play for India for many years and one day he will lead the team as well. Then only his father will get satisfied. The satisfaction will be for both him and Punjab because he is our son,”, the former right-arm spinner further added.
Gill was born in Fazilka City in Punjab. Since the place lacked proper cricketing facilities, his father shifted to Mohali to provide better facilities for his son.
Shubman Gill’s Hunger Makes Him Different From The Other Players: Harbhajan Singh
When Harbhajan Singh was asked what makes Shubman Gill different from other players, the former said it’s his hunger to score runs and belief to do something.
“Shubman is very passionate about his game. His hunger makes him different from the other players because he has the belief to do something and become something,” said Harbhajan, who played for India from 1998 to 2016.
Gill was also a star performer in IPL 2023. With 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries in the season, the Gujarat Titans opener shattered 890 runs to win the orange cap. Since the start of 2023, the 23-year-old has smacked more than 1000 runs in international cricket and is the leading run-getter for team India this year.
