IND vs WI: Hoped For A Hundred - Shubman Gill After 85-Run Knock In 3rd ODI

Indian opener Shubman Gill said that he hoped to smash a hundred during the IND vs WI 3rd ODI at Brian Lara Stadium. Gill also added that his fifty was very special for him.
Shubman Gill slammed a knock of 85 runs in the IND vs WI 3rd ODI. Struggling to come up with a decent knock throughout the two Tests and first two ODIs, the right-handed batsman ended the series on a high note.
Hoped To Get A Hundred: Shubman Gill
During the post-match presentation, Shubman Gill said he was hoping for a hundred in the match but that didn’t happen. The 23-year-old also said that it was a very special knock for him as it was his first fifty during the tour.
“Very special for me, my first fifty on the tour. I was hoping to get a big score for the team, a hundred, but that didn’t happen but the result was on our side. It was a good pitch to bat on but got difficult to bat on after the ball got older,” the Punjab-born cricketer said.
The Gujarat Titans opener also said that he was fortunate to provide a good start to the team. He also added that he was looking for a big knock in the previous match as well.
“It’s all about playing the situation, assessing it as early as possible. As an opener, it’s your job to give a good start to the team and fortunately, I was able to do that. I think in the last match, I was set as well and looking for a big one”, Gill further added.
Shubman Gill slammed the most 85 runs for the team in IND vs WI 3rd ODI. Playing 92 deliveries, he shattered 11 boundaries during his knock. Later, he also won the Player of the Match award. He also set up a fabulous opening stand of 143 runs with Ishan Kishan. Earlier, he got out for 7 and 34 in the first two games.
India Crush West Indies 2-1
Meanwhile, India crushed West Indies in the 3rd ODI by 200 runs to win the three-match series 2-1. Batting first, India posted a mountainous 351-5 on the board. Ishan Kishan (77), Shubman Gill (85), Sanju Samson (51), and Hardik Pandya (70*) shattered half-centuries for India.
Later, the visitors bowled out West Indies for 151 to grab a huge victory. Shardul Thakur hunted the most 4 wickets for the team. Mukesh Kumar grabbed 3 scalps. Kuldeep Yadav clinched 2 scalps in his kitty.
