IND vs WI: "I'm Sure You Never Would Have Imagined That"- Rahul Dravid And Virat Kohli Get Nostalgic After Visiting Dominica

Ahead of the first Test against West Indies in Dominica, India head coach Rahul Dravid and star batsman Virat Kohli shared their old memories of visiting the Caribbean together as teammates.

Way back in 2011, Dravid and Kohli were teammates when India visited West Indies for a three-match Test series. It was the series where Kohli made his debut in the longest format of the game. One of the games of the three-match series in 2011 was held in Dominica. Both Kohli and Dravid are the only members in the current India squad who played in the 2011 Dominica Test.

And ahead of the first Test between India and West Indies at the same venue, the BCCI took to Twitter to share a video where both Dravid and Kohli could be seen going down the memory lane and recall the tour of the Caribbean in 2011.

Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli recall tour of West Indies in 2011:

In a video shared by the BCCI, both Dravid and Kohli shared their memories from the 2011 tour. Dravid spoke about how the Test was a big thing for Dominica and also opened up on how a young Kohli was eager to make a mark in Tests after impressing in ODIs.

Kohli, on the other hand, stated that the memories came rushing by when he entered the dressing room. He called it an amazing feeling to return to the venue after a gap of 12 years and more than 100 Tests. Kohli also spoke about Dravid as he opened up on his and Dravid’s remarkable journey in the game.

“When we went to the dressing room and then practice, I kind of remembered my first series here as a Test player and this is the country where it all started – the Caribbean. And yeah, it is just amazing to be able to come back here 12 years later having played over 100 Test matches, I would never have imagined anything like this,” Kohli said in a video shared by the BCCI.

“I think his comment about him being a youngster in his coaching career is quite a humble one because he has been coaching for a long period of time now. I was his teammate at one point. He was a senior established Test player who we all looked up to. It’s quite amazing.

“I told Rahul bhai yesterday as well that ‘I’m sure you never would have imagined that 12 years later we would come back to the same venue and you’ll be the head coach, while I would have played 100 games’.

“No one would have guessed that. So I am glad that we are the only two members from the last trip. Still here in different capacities but it’s like life has come full circle. Our journeys have been quite amazing,” Kohli mentioned.

Meanwhile, the first match of the two-Test series is scheduled to be played from Wednesday (July 12). It will be India’s first Test in the ongoing third cycle of the World Test Championship.
