IND vs WI: Jaydev Unadkat Scripts History, Surpasses Robin Singh, Amit Mishra In Rare Feat

The 31-year-old India National Cricket Team left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat has created history following his appearance for India in the ODI series against West Indies National Cricket Team.

India lost the toss and were invited to bat first in the series-deciding third ODI at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on Tuesday, August 1. They made two changes to the playing XI as Axar Patel and Umran Malik were left out while being replaced by Jaydev Unadkat and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The seasoned left-arm seamer Unadkat is featuring in his first ODI since November 2013 against West Indies in Kochi. With his appearance against West Indies, he broke a rare ODI record of Robin Singh for the longest gap between consecutive ODIs for the India National Cricket Team.

Jaydev Unadkat Creates History

Jaydev Unadkat made his ODI debut for India National Cricket Team way back in 2013. On July 24, 2013, he played his first ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare.

He went on to play 6 more matches for India in the 50-over format, before being left out of the squad. Overall, he played 7 matches for the Men In Blue and bagged 8 wickets while registering the best bowling figures of 4/41.

After grinding in domestic cricket for years, Jaydev Unadkat has made his return to India’s setup in both red-ball and white-ball cricket. His appearance in the third ODI against West Indies has come after a gap of 9 years and 252 days. He went past Robin Singh, Amit Mishra, Parthiv Patel, and Robin Uthappa in the unique list of the longest gap by Indian players between consecutive ODIs.
