The 25-year-old Uttar Pradesh batter Rinku Singh, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has said that the mindset of the legendary Indian cricketers – MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma – is way above any normal cricketer.

It was a big heartbreak for the batter as many expected him to at least make it to the squad for the T20I series. However, it didn’t take him very long to make it to the India squad as he was called up for the Asian Games 2023.

Meanwhile, he recently spoke about the legendary Indian cricketers MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma in an interaction with RevSportz. The Uttar Pradesh batter was asked whether he feels any difference when he talks to the likes of Dhoni, Kohli and Rohit, and other cricketers.

Rinku Singh said that there is a major difference as the aforementioned Indian greats focus more on the mental aspect of the game and they have completely different and clearer mindsets than others.

“The game is all about the mind. Whenever I get the opportunity to speak with such big players, be it a MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, I find a similar pattern – they focus on the mental aspect of the game. It’s all about the mindset. 

“The clearer you are about your role, what you want to do out there, the easier it becomes to execute your plans, and that’s what I focus on. Also, the mindset of Mahi bhai, Virat bhai or Rohit bhai is way above and clearer to what a normal cricketer thinks. That’s what makes the difference at the higher level, I think,” Rinku Singh said.

Rinku Singh further spoke about his chat with MS Dhoni during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and revealed the advice he received from the legendary captain. The 25-year-old said that Dhoni just told him to follow the same process that has been working for him over the years.

‘The chatter with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) was really productive. He has also batted in similar numbers as I do – at 5 or 6 – and he has done it for the majority of his career and knows the position in and out. I simply asked him how to better my game, and his advice was very simple: “Bohot sahi batting kar raha hai, jo tu kar raha hai, wahi karta reh (You are batting really well. Continue whatever you have done so far),” he elaborated.

Rinku Singh will be finally seen in action in the Indian jersey at the Asian Games 2023. The men’s cricket competition will take place from September 28 to October 8 in a T20 format.
