The 25-year-old Uttar Pradesh middle-order batter Rinku Singh, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has opened up on receiving a lot of help from the legendary India National Cricket Team players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh in his career.

The Nitish Rana-led KKR won just 6 out of 14 matches in the IPL 2023 and Rinku Singh played a key role in those victories. In an interview with RevSportz, Rinku Singh was asked whether he has received help from any former cricketers in his remarkable journey. He responded by naming “IPL King” Suresh Raina, who is also the Uttar Pradesh batter’s idol, and the legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.

“Suresh Raina has been my idol. I am regularly in touch with him. He is the IPL King and he keeps sharing his inputs with me. He has helped me a lot in my career. Bhajju pa (Harbhajan Singh) has also helped me a lot in my career. I am grateful for their support and whenever such big players talk about you, it motivates you to push yourself more,” Rinku Singh elaborated.

IPL was great, Those five weeks were unforgettable – Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh admitted that the IPL 2023 season was unforgettable, but said that he is now focusing only on the future and is aiming to do well in whatever opportunity he gets.

“IPL was great. Those five weeks were unforgettable. I feel, whoever knows me today is because of those five weeks and I am grateful about it. But in my mind, those five weeks, the IPL I had, those are the things of the past, I have forgotten that.

“Now I am back to my daily process. The routine is back, the gym sessions, the net sessions – everything is back to normal. Whatever I am working on is for the future now. Hopefully, I will be able to do well whatever chances I get in the future,” Rinku Singh said.

Overall, while batting in the middle-order the young batter smashed 474 runs at an amazing average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53 in IPL 2023. Also, he has been included in India’s squad for the Asian Games 2023.
