India batting superstar Virat Kohli, on Sunday (July 9), took a trip down the memory lane as he posted a heartfelt message ahead of the upcoming first Test against West Indies.

The first match of the two-Test series is scheduled to be played at the Windsor Park in Dominica. The match is scheduled to begin on Tuesday (July 12). And as Team India visited the stadium for the series-opener, it seemingly filled Virat Kohli with nostalgia.

Virat Kohli began his glorious Test career in the Caribbean. He made his Test debut in 2011 against West Indies in Jamaica. As of now, he has played 109 Tests for Team India and is one of the best players in the world. Kohli also led the Test team from 2015 to 2022 and finished his captaincy stint as one of India’s greatest Test captains.

As Virat Kohli arrived in Dominica for the series-opener, he took to Twitter to post a special message. Virat Kohli recalled his maiden Test tour of West Indies and reminded the fans of his and head coach Rahul Dravid’s journey. He stated that he and Dravid are the only members in the current Indian team who played in that series. Incidentally, Dravid was the Man of the Match for his batting effort in Kohli’s maiden Test.

“The only two guys part of the last test we played at Dominica in 2011. Never imagined the journey would bring us back here in different capacities. Highly grateful. ?,” wrote Kohli.

Meanwhile, Kohli and Dravid would be hoping that Team India gets back to winning ways in the upcoming Test. India suffered a crushing loss in their last Test which was the World Test Championship final last month. Australia thrashed India by 209 runs at the Oval. Kohli will also be looking to score big after failing to do well in the WTC final.
