Ace Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made a good comeback to T20I cricket after he was not included for the ODI games against West Indies. He picked up two for 24 in his spell dismissing the openers in his very first over.

Yuzvendra Chahal is not playing alongside Kuldeep Yadav in recent times. The very popular “Kulcha” pair is not seen regularly playing for India in white both cricket both ODIs and T20Is.

Chahal has lost his spot to Kuldeep since the start of 2023. Kuldeep’s renewed potency and wicket-taking ability has given him the edge over Chahal as of now. However, the pair played together in the first T20I and picked up three wickets cumulatively.

Only Focused On The Next Four Matches: Yuzvebdra Chahal

“The only thing I am focused on is that I am here, there are four matches left and I have to perform well in it. I don’t think about things that are not in my hand. I think step by step. I am not thinking about the Asia Cup or the World Cup, I am only thinking about the T20I series against West Indies,” Chahal said in the pre-match conference.

He further spoke on his battle with Nicholas Pooran. The southpaw scored a quickfire 41 in the first T20I and set the platform for West Indies’ end score. Chahal admitted that he loves his battles with Pooran and revealed his plans to dismiss him in the second T20I.

“I have been playing with him [Pooran] for quite some time now and I have dismissed him, he has also scored six against me. I love the battle, this is not club cricket, the batters have performed that is why he is here. I enjoy the battle with him, I know that if I give him a loose ball he will score a six against me. So I will try not to give an easy ball to him and make him struggle for a four or six,” Chahal signed off.

India are trailing the five-match series 1-0 and will look to level the series on Sunday.
