Indian batter Sanju Samson is due for some runs in the ongoing T20I series against West Indies. He scored 12in the first T20I and seven in the second. He did not get a chance to bat in the third T20I.

Samsju Samson scored 60 runs in the three-match ODI series and headed into the T20I series with some form. However, in trying to score runs too quickly in the first two games, he perished in the process.

Wasim Jaffer, former Indian cricketer in a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo said that the pitch at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida will suit his style of batting with the ball coming onto the bat. With Samson due for runs in the series, this is his opportunity to score some crucial runs for his team.

Sanju Samson won’t Get A Better Pitch, Needs To Make The Most OF It: Wasim Jaffer

“He (Samson) is due some runs. This is a high-scoring ground where the ball will come onto the bat and he will like batting here. Whether it’s him or Shubman Gill or Jaiswal, if you’re in poor form, you won’t get a better pitch than this. So they need to make the most of it,” said Jaffer.

There is a chance that Samson is retained in the Indian playing XI for the fourth T20I along with Shubman Gill who has also struggled for runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal who failed to score big on his debut is likely to be given another match as well. Thus it is Ishan Kishan who will need to sit out after poor performance in the first two T20Is.

Powell praised Nicholas Pooran for his attacking cricket against India in the series so far. He is the second-highest run-scorer with 128 runs in the series so far. He has made three scores of 42, 67, and 20 in the first three games.

“Nicholas Pooran is their trump card. He is crucial to their chances of scoring big. Because other batters apart from Powell haven’t been able to step up and they need to do better,” said Jaffer.

After losing the first two T20Is, India won the third by seven runs to keep the series alive. India needs to win the last two T20Is on Saturday (August 12) and Sunday (August 13) to win the series.
