Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Wasim Jaffer showered praise on the young left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal for batting with a fearless approach in white-ball cricket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal performed poorly on his T20I debut as he scored just 1 run. However, he smashed 84 runs in his second match off 51 balls, including 11 fours and 3 sixes.

He was also involved in a massive 165 runs partnership with Shubman Gill in just 94 balls. The partnership between the young openers helped India win the match by 9 wickets within 17 overs.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Wasim Jaffer said that Jaiswal’s fearlessness is quite special and highlighted that the batter is not scared of playing aggressively despite his failures.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fearlessness is something special to watch. Sometimes a failure can make you a little bit defensive but that was not the case. In this format there is no place for that. He came out all guns blazing and the pitch made the difference. Both like ball coming onto the bat and the difference was there to see,” Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo.

Hope to see more of him in white-ball format – Wasim Jaffer on Yashasvi Jaiswal

Jaffer further said that Jaiswal did the initial damage in the fourth T20I and his partner Gill took his time before firing with the bat. Shubman Gill scored 77 runs off 47 balls, with 3 fours and 5 sixes, in the match.

“Jaiswal took it on earlier, Shubman took his time a little and once he got going, he kind of overtook Yashasvi. India need somebody to bat like that in the powerplay and it’s nice to see him come out so freely. Hope to see more of him in white-ball format,” Jaffer added.

Jaiswal also came out with an ultra aggressive approach in the series-deciding T20I against West Indies, but he was dismissed by Akeal Hosein in the first over itself.
