Hardik Pandya (20*) and Tilak Varma (49*) added an unbeaten 43-run stand to take India to victory in the third T20I against West Indies in Guyana on Tuesday. The win keeps India alive in the series with the Men in Blue needing to win the final two T20Is to win the series.
Tilak Varma with his calculative batting in the first three T20s has won a lot of accolades from his teammates and former cricket experts. Varma who was added to the t20I squad was given a chance to make his debut in the first T20I.
He scored an attractive 39 in the first T20I and followed it up with his maiden T20I fifty in his second T20I. Though it came in a losing cause, Tilak’s innings was appreciated. In the third T20I too, he played a responsible innings scoring an unbeaten 49 and he was denied a chance to get to his fifty by Hardik who hit the winning runs.
Hardik hitting the winning runs and denying the youngster a well-deserved fifty did not go down well with the Indian cricket fans. They targeted him on Twitter and started comparing him with MS Dhoni. He was criticised for being selfish with former Indian cricketers taking indirect digs at him.
Meanwhile, the viral video of Hardik’s conversation with Tilak Varma has resurfaced after India’s third T20I win. In this video, Hardik is heard saying to Tilak to stay till the end and robbing him the chance of getting to his fifty in the end.
India required 12 off 23 balls with Varma on 44 and Pandya on 9 when this conversation was recorded. You can hear the conversation between Hardik and Tilak below.

“Tereko specially khatam karna hai, rukna hai, khatam karna hai” Hardik said to Tilak with India on the brink of a win. However, when he got the strike, Hardik finished the game off hitting the winning runs himself and robbing Varma to chance to score his second T20I fifty in back-to-back games.
Hardik’s actions were criticized by Indian cricket fans and cricket experts alike. In the post-match presentation, The Indian skipper said that they were not bothered by the two consecutive losses and were ready for the must-win game.
“Very important (to win). We spoke as a group that these three games will be exciting. Two losses or two wins does not change the long term plans. We have to show we are ready when it comes to such (must-win) games” said Hardik Pandya.
