IND vs WI: World-Class Spinner! Dinesh Karthik Hails Ravichandran Ashwin For Outplaying West Indies Batters

Indian wicketkeeper and cricket commentator Dinesh Karthik hailed Ravichandran Ashwin for his marvelous bowling show in IND vs WI 1st Test. Dinesh Karthik said that Ravichandran Ashwin has shown why he is a world-class spinner.

Ravichandran Ashwin clinched another five-wicket haul in Tests during IND vs WI 1st Test at Windsor Park. The right-arm spinner dismissed five West Indies batters to cross 700 wickets tally in Tests. As West Indies were bundled out for 150, Ashwin registered figures of 60-5 in the innings.

Dinesh Karthik Calls Ravichandran Ashwin ‘World-Class Spinner’

While speaking on Cricbuzz, Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik hailed Ravichandran Ashwin for yet another brilliant spell in Tests. Karthik said that Ashwin out-thought and out-skilled Caribbean batters in the match. He also lauded Ashwin for his delivery which dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul.

“He out-thought a few batsmen, but also out-skilled a few. That would definitely be the Chanderpaul delivery. It’s a dream ball [bowling to a left-hander], one that drifts in and takes the off-bail. Chanderpaul’s ball was probably the best ball of the day. He’s again shown us why he is such a world-class spinner. Hats off to Ashwin,” the 38-year-old said.

Dinesh Karthik also felt West Indies batters got out with meek shots.

“The rest of the batting capitulated. From being 31/1, which is a decent start in a Test match, it became 75/5. We keep speaking why West Indies is struggling – they haven’t been having the technique or skill to forge together good partnerships. Players getting out to meek shots – [Kraigg] Brathwaite, being the captain, looking to loft one, getting caught at cover. [Jermaine] Blackwood chipping it to mid-off,” Karthik further added.

Meanwhile, at the stumps of Day 1, India trailed by 70 runs with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal on strike. While Indian captain Sharma scored unbeaten 30 runs, Jaiswal hit 40 runs with 6 boundaries in his debut Test match.

Earlier, West Indies opted to bat first after winning the toss. Against India’s strong spin attack by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, the home team were bundled out for just 150. Ashwin and Jadeja shared 8 wickets between them. For West Indies, Alick Athanaze scored the most 47 runs.
